About Ignition Canine

Where We Train

Ignition Canine trains dogs from six acres at Anstead, about 20 minutes west of Brisbane. The property has an indoor training room, a swimming pool, and fenced areas for working with smaller groups. Five things run from it: one-to-one training, Board & Train, day care, protection dogs, and online sessions for people who can’t get out here. Day care is supervised by the same people who train the protection dogs and the Board & Train clients, so behaviour gets picked up during the day and you hear about it at pick-up rather than weeks later.

Most training starts indoors, where a dog can actually concentrate. A park is full of things going wrong at once, and a dog learning something new can’t sort out what matters. Once a behaviour is solid inside, we take it outside, then out into the suburbs where it has to hold up for real.

Trainer-Led Care

Whether your dog is here for a session or a full day of day care, it’s with a trainer. Same person, every time.

Raj Somal

Raj Somal is the founder and head trainer at Ignition Canine. Before founding it he served as a Police Officer, worked within Corrective Services, and worked across other government agencies, applying his dog training skills in operational environments where precision and reliability aren’t optional. His background also spans competitive dog sports and hands-on study with internationally recognised trainers.

Meet Raj Somal, one of the most well-rounded dog training professionals in the field today. With a background that spans competitive dog sports, government agency partnerships, and hands-on study with world-renowned trainers, Raj brings a rare depth of expertise to every dog and handler he works with.

Whether you’re navigating the early weeks with a new puppy, looking to strengthen the bond with your family pet, or preparing a service dog for the demands of real-world work, Raj’s approach is rooted in clarity, confidence, and a genuine understanding of how dogs think and learn.

At Ignition Canine, Raj’s mission is simple: to give every dog owner, at every level, the knowledge, skills, and support they need to build a relationship with their dog that lasts a lifetime.
